Privacy

Just Mercy Trust collects only the information needed to do what you ask of us, and we use it only for that purpose. This policy explains what we hold and why, in plain language. It reflects our obligations under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

When you start a conversation or contact us. We collect your name, email address, your organisation if you give it, and your message. We use these only to reply to you and to carry the conversation forward. They are not added to any mailing list.

When you donate. We record your name, email address, organisation if given, and the details of your gift so we can process it, reconcile it, and issue your New Zealand donation tax receipt. Donation records and receipts are kept for seven years, as New Zealand charity and tax record-keeping requires. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

When you sign up for updates. We hold your email address only after you confirm the signup from your own inbox (double opt-in), and every update we send includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

What we do not do. We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not run advertising trackers on this site. We share information only with the service providers needed to run the site and deliver email, and only for those purposes.

Your rights. You may ask at any time what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email info@justmercy.nz and we will respond promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Terms of use

This website is published by Just Mercy Trust, a registered New Zealand charitable trust (CC64635), to share information about our work and make it easy to partner with us, support us, and contact us.

Using the site. The content here is general information about our mission and the response to trafficking and exploitation in Aotearoa and Oceania. It is not legal, medical, or professional advice. If you or someone you know is in danger, contact the Police on 111.

Content and reuse. Unless noted otherwise, the text, images and design of this site belong to Just Mercy Trust or are used with permission. You are welcome to link to any page. To reuse our material, ask us first at info@justmercy.nz.

Donations. A receipt is issued for every donation. If a donation is made in error, or you need to change or cancel a recurring gift, email us and we will put it right. Where a refund is appropriate we return it to the same payment method.

External links. We link to other organisations where it helps you. Those sites are their own; a link is not an endorsement and we are not responsible for their content.

Changes and law. We may update these terms as the site grows; the current version always lives on this page. These terms are governed by New Zealand law.

Accessibility

Everyone should be able to use this site. We build towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and accessibility decisions are made at build time, not patched afterwards.

What that looks like here. Semantic headings and landmarks throughout; every form control has a visible label; every interactive element works with a keyboard and shows a clear focus state; text and background colours are chosen for contrast; text scales with your browser settings; and if your device asks for reduced motion, animation on this site stops.

Work in progress. Accessibility is never finished. We review the site against WCAG as it grows, and we fix issues as they are found.
